First off - On behalf of all of you that attended today's gathering at Brackins, thank you for coming !

Also, many thanks to Mark & Linda Brackins and to Leanne Moe for providing a place to get together.

The first meeting with the goal of re-establishing the Smoky Mountain Blues Society will take place at Brackins as stated on the last Sunday of March.  That would be March 29th, 2009.

The doors will be open at 4 for a social hour.  The meeting will start promptly at 5 p.m.  We will be done before 6:30 when a local acoustic act is scheduled to take the stage.

The specific goals of this meeting will be:

        1.  Elect Officers to serve on the Board of Directors

        2.  Establish a membership committee to begin repopulating the ranks of the Society.

        3.  Next meeting time/place.

        4.  Other business as/if time allows.

Your presence today indicates that you have an interest.  Please forward this notice, or otherwise inform every one you think may also be interested about the March 29th meeting.

I can tell you from personal experience that the Blues Society was a vibrant and worthy organization years ago.  It hosted some great events and generated a lot of great memories for a lot of people.   It can be that again, and more, if we want it to be.   When people decide to put in time and energy, amazing things can happen.

Bottom line - it's up to you, and to any and all that are interested.  By definition, a Society is a social organization.  Therefore - first people, then Society.

So, if you are interested, I look forward to seeing you again, and every friend you can bring, on March 29th if not before.  Please feel free to call or write with any questions.

Many thanks,

Robert H.
